Craigslist is the most popular free classified site. Then comes backpage, kijiji.
Google recently launched a classified site named Google base. It’s a little bit different in nature than the aforesaid sites. Yahoo & Microsoft are also on the race.
I am interested to learn about other similar sites. If you know any such site, share your views here.
I have complied a small list of free classifieds here with PR and Alexa Traffic Rank.

O and just get a few dial accounts with long D the ip must be within rang of where posting. And the be secet “computer name” I hope craigslist don’t reads this I might be fired but let see “I queit”

I agree with Don and Duke: it is a filter. For the last 5 days I’ve been posting 120 ads per day, all of them showed up just fine, most of them are still alive. I’m very glad that I finally figured it out. Of course, Yahoo Groups are great, and I’m very pleased with Yahoo Groups’ results, but it is much better to have 2-3 sources of income than just one.
Frankly speaking, now I’m glad that CraigsList installed this new filter. It prevents some people from posting 2,000-3,000 ads per day, and now, without all this spam and garbage, the customers can see the good ads for the good products that they really need. Yesterday CraigsList brought me more than 1,800 hits.
I agree with Duke: if you know the secret, you’d better keep it to yourself, otherwise the spammers will start posting 2,000-3,000 ads per day again.
Sorry guys, but it’s each man for himself!

I have a question for those of you who have cracked the code…
I’ve figured out what works for me and can get all of my ads up (at least for now). But I can only get 1 ad up per email around every 10 minutes or so (although I’m not 100% positive if it’s per email or per IP or per matching title, I haven’t really played with it too much, just assuming) And because of this, it’s really taking a long time to post.
I’m just wondering if those of you who have figured out the filter are having this problem/issue, or if you can post like normal (back to back to back) and I just need to keep playing to figure out the trick or if this indeed just part of the new filter.

CL Poster!
I’m glad that for now you’re able to post your ads, but you have to go a little further. Right now I can post 37 ads in 20 minutes.
August 16, 2007 at 11:11 am |
CL Poster:
Good for you!
I don’t have this problem. I post 60 ads in the morning (it takes 45 minutes) and 60 ads in the evening (it takes 45 minutes too). I post one ad after another, manually, I don’t use any software, macros etc.
So you still have to work on it. I’m sure you will figure it out eventually. Good Luck!

Sharp and Duke.
Ok I have been able to get most of what I want up but it is odd that some of the 30 or so ads don’t get up. I’m running around 80% sucess rate. Sharp all you ads are showing that you know of. Maybe you can explain on thing does your ads contain links. Still a work in progress as I don’t use any posting software either.

Craig Buster!
Yes, I’m sure that 100% of my ads show up (I checked each ad for 4 days). Each ad contains one link, no images, all ads under several different “Services” categories.
But I have to say: I’m talking about the ads in American cities. My ads for Canadian cities didn’t show up for the first two days (my American ads during these first 2 days showed up just fine), and I decided that it was not worth trying. So these 120 ads per day I was talking about – all American cities.
August 18, 2007 at 3:36 am |
Sharp,
What I find odd is the ability to post 10 ads either all 10 the same or 10 different ads and under one e-mail, yet only maybe 70%-80% get live. If they had a super filter why are any of the ads getting through? Perplexing to me. I have done both no picture and links only and pictures with a link and find the same pattern. I find some cities are easier than others. I also find it strange that CL is doing more maintainance then every before and wonder if they just might be experiencing some tech problems.
Let me know what you think.

CraigBuster:
Congrats! 80% ain’t that bad! A lot of CraigsList posters would kill for the result like this! I’m sure you will get 100% eventually.
I’m sure ALL my ads go live (I check almost every time I post). My ads contain one URL, no images, no email addresses, no phone numbers. I use less HTML than I was using before that filter.
Before that filter I used to post in 37 American cities and 4 Canadian cities. Now, like Sharp, I use American cities only. I post 3 different ads in 37 American cities (2 ads under Therapeutic Services and 1 ad under Automotive Services). I use dial-up. I don’t use any special posting software.
Good Luck!
August 18, 2007 at 2:09 pm |
Craig Buster!
One more thing! Basicly I work like I used to work before the filter: the same titles, the same ads, the same wordage, the same ISP, the same posting techniques. Like Duke, I never used email addresses/images/phone numbers in my ads. I still use dial-up. What’s the difference between “now” and “then”?
1). As I said before, now I don’t post in Canadian cities.
2). My ads used to be a little bit “html-heavy”. Now I use less html than before the filter.
3). The most important difference: Now, before I start posting an ad, I do something that allows me to go through the filter. This takes less than 5 minutes, and it is just “ONE thing”, it is not several things one after another. When you figure out this “before-posting” secret, you’ll be able to get 100% of your ads to show up (I’m still talking American cities only).
Good Luck!

Quick question(s)…I am having a problem with a disgruntle. I post one or two ads per day and remove my previous days ads faithfully. Unfortunately, there is a loser who keeps flagging off my ads and sending me emails how much he enjoys it. He states “with one click I remove your ads at will. And he does, with in 5 minutes of my ads being posted they are pink on my account and history. My question is: Is it possible for a mortal human being to kick off ads that quickly? Is there flagging software that can remove ads with one click. The other day I kept posting ad after ad, maybe 40 and with his sarchastic emails, he methodically bounced off every single ad within 5 minutes. It was a tug of war that had no winner. Today I tried to post and for the hell of it put up 10 ads which I never do. With in 10 minutes all were knocked, I posted a few more and again they were knocked off quickly. How is it possible one meany can do this? Thank you for your reply.
August 19, 2007 at 12:15 am |
greg, it would be pretty silly to explain how a single person can flag off an ad. if it is explain, more people will do it.
August 19, 2007 at 5:32 am |
~Don’t put any link in your ad unless you are posting in services offered categories.
~Don’t use external images while posting in the categories where there is option available for uploading image. Rather upload image during posting the ads.

August 20, 2007 at 3:26 am |
I know and understand how one would flag my ad off. My question is there a quick way where he could bang them off one after another. I know how it’s done, flagging one or two ads would be a cinch. But he knocked off dozens in a row…as fast as I relisted the flagged ads he banged them right off as fast as I could post them. It was an individual without a doubt, he kept emailing me that he wasn’t going to stop. So…I know one can flag an ad, a few ads, but dozens and dozens in a row as fast as I could post them. Just seems a little strange.

hello everyone.
Anyone have any news to report? I’m still nickle and diming my way around CL. Same old deal 10 posted 8 up. Various cities don’t show an ad. I did experiement with and old site that was blocked by CL and it shows green but not live. It used to be instantly deleted by staff almost before I could click it to verify. Looks like the don’t give a crap if all these post clog their servers they figure they were going to be there anyhow. I have also noticed very few if any CL staff deletions. Again nothing new on this front still able to get my ads through..
PS. any CL staff especially that short dude CRAIG lurking I still get through still make money and LOVE IT BABY!!

Some guys on the Help Forum keep promoting backpage.com
Has anybody tried Backpage marketing? Is it any good?
Any information will be appreciated.

I need some list of classified site please send those to my mail id jockyrc1@gmail.com
August 21, 2007 at 3:40 pm |
Greg, rumor has it that there are automated flagging programs out there. I’d like to get my hands on one as I live in a big city and the spam is ridiculous. so if somebody has one, shoot it over!
More recently, I’ve also experienced CL not emailing me a “flagged” email. Or, I get the posting page and nothing shows up on the website.
August 22, 2007 at 2:00 am |
Does anyone have advice on how not to get deleted on back-page . com?
I seem to get deleted as fast as I can post them.

It seems craigslist is having some problem with the uploaded images. Sometimes the uploaded images are lost and sometimes not showing.
Anyone else facing the problem?
Dave,
I am posting successfully on backpage. In which category do you post? Basically you have to apply the same techniques as of craigslist.

After a month of tests, sweat, blood and tears I finally found my way around this new “not-show-up” filter!
Sharp is absolutely right – just one small operation before posting ads makes all the difference.
Now I easily post 180 ads per day, 100% show up!
Good Luck, guys!
September 6, 2007 at 1:49 pm |
As I said before, all my 180 American ads show up just fine, day after day, and I’m very pleased.
However, when I try to post to Canadian cities, something strange happens: the ad in Montreal shows up just fine, but the ads in Vancuver and Toronto don’t show up.
What’s the difference between Montreal and other Canadian cities?
Does anybody have the same problem?
September 13, 2007 at 10:53 pm |
my ads do appear but i got flagged in 5 minutes… it not much of html.. any way to make them stay longer ?
September 14, 2007 at 4:58 pm |
For the last two months, I only had around 50% success with posting sticking. Other 50% never shows up on the index pages .. I guess thats what is this ‘no-show-up’ references in this topic. Anyone care to share ? Or hint ?
September 21, 2007 at 5:32 pm |
Craigslist puts a cookie on your system that idenifies when you’ve posted an ad. Get rid of it and you can post again. There is probably a way to keep it off your system, I haven’t figured that one out yet.
October 10, 2007 at 4:46 am |
Craigslist has the same spam system that email services uses it simple it take all the word in your post and match them against spam word in there data base if your post is over 90% it kick it out , There also have a image pixel reader if any image is the same you upload it kick it. and there email and ip you can do thoes on your own.so just study spam email that make to you and there your anwer. Cargs think he smart it took me about 20 min to find out what he did and 1hr to write a new program to brake it .lol..You guy should learn vb2005 it pretty easy to learn and is the only way your going to have a program that work is write one yourself that what I did.
October 11, 2007 at 2:07 pm |
I am frustrated with this new ‘do not show up’ filter. I tried cookie method, tried the spammerzoerk method.. and I have first hand seen folks that posted same ad with link and email id in them (same email id and same links) over 100 posts and they are all up and running.. can anyone share the trick ?
October 17, 2007 at 3:57 pm |
I have limited sucess. Some go through and some don’t. Someone needs to break the silence and open the gates. So what if CL knows we know. Force the bastards to re-write the program again. Nothing pisses them off more then when the filter has been found out. They then have to re-do it and it takes time. Someone post the key to the thing. I think it is time related. Done the cookie, ip, email thing.

any help with multiple cl postings. i haven’t been getting flagged, they just haven’t been showing up. I create cl accounts then post them. excuse me if i give away some tips to the cl flagging spies that might read this, but i’m desperate. here’s what i have so far. i have multiple email addresses. i use a free proxy service to have different ips. i create cl accounts. that’s one question should i or shouldn’t i post via creating accounts. i post about five different ads under the same email account and proxy in different cities in the same category. then i repeat. in three accounts none of the ads showed up. i saw this one guy today with the same ad posted back to back about 40 times with the same heading… i noticed he used an image. does using a image bypass the mutiple posting prob
October 20, 2007 at 12:38 pm |
CL buster:
My goal is NOT pissing CL off and NOT forcing them to re-write the filter. My goal is to make money.
Right now CL brings me excellent income, and I’m not going to screw it up.
October 21, 2007 at 12:53 am |
CL Buster, you can’t be serious! Why should I want to piss off CraigsList and make them to create ANOTHER filter?!
Right now CL brings me 1,700-2,000 hits every day! I’m making VERY good money, and I don’t want to screw it up!
It took me more than a month to figure out this filter. It would take me weeks to figure out another one. Do I want to give up my profit for several weeks just to piss them off?! Do I want to do all these tests again?! I DON’T THINK SO!
October 24, 2007 at 6:04 pm |
I tried a couple of the “methods” that some of the posters described here (cookies, spammerzoerk’s “method”). They don’t work.
The only way to figure out the not-show-up filter is: you have to test day after day, week after week, month after month.
I started testing on August 14. So it took more than 2 months, but I did it! I figured it out! For the last 3 days I posted successfully 66 ads per day (3 different ads in 22 big cities). Tomorrow I will add more cities, by the end of the week I will be posting 300 ads per day (4 ads in 75 cities). But even 66 ads brought me yesterday more than 1,400 hits per day! I’m absolutely happy!
I agree with Sharp and Gregory: if you figured out the secret, you’d better keep it to yourself!
If you want to know the secret, work on it, keep testing, read what successful posters (Don, Duke, Sharp, Gregory) say, read what people say on the CL help forum, and you’ll figure it out eventually!
Good Luck!
October 25, 2007 at 11:58 am |
looks like I figured the secret to post too.. I have 300 up for last two days with no problem. What I couldnt figure is WHY ? Do you guys see any logical explanation as to WHY it works ?
October 25, 2007 at 7:07 pm |
Swaaker -
66 ads per day using same ip, same email address ?
October 30, 2007 at 5:38 am |
all you who claim to have found the “secret” let us know in a week if it’s still working out for ya lol
*update
the erotic section has changed down to one image upload field.
October 30, 2007 at 7:23 am |
where are the places we can look to find the secret out… been getting no-show ads and i dont even have the same volume as you guys have… what gives?!!
October 30, 2007 at 7:24 am |
I also noticed that some sections only allow you to upload only 1 photo now. Guess the CL servers are getting clogged up.
October 30, 2007 at 7:50 pm |
i can only get about 2 CL ads per day, but have hundreds on Backpage. Works ok, but nowhere near CL. I will keep testing and see what happens.
October 30, 2007 at 9:45 pm |
11, it’s been more than a week for me (9 days), and I’m doing
just fine!
October 31, 2007 at 12:36 pm |
It’s not necessarily the filters at this point, it’s the flagging. THAT is probably the most frustrating part. Anyone got any hints how to minimize flagging?
November 1, 2007 at 12:09 pm |
Here is tip for folks who wants to keep the ’secret’ to themselves. Check newyork and other labor and moving sections.. Tons of same ads posted again and again, and again.
So your theory of only handful folks know this ’secret’ and hence CL will sleep on their couch is wrong. 10s of 100s of folks know about this. So there goes your theory of not sharing it with folks you hang out on this page for months..
November 2, 2007 at 4:58 am |
11- Do you know something that we don’t know?
“all of you who claim to have found the “secret” let us know in a week or so if it’s still working out for ya lol”
It sounds like you know that they’re going to be changing their format or their spam filter in the next week??? What gives?
November 2, 2007 at 10:23 am |
Jackie:
Nobody ever said that just “handful” of the posters knew the secret. Of course, there are a lot of people who know how to post. But ALL of them keep secret to themselves.
November 2, 2007 at 11:25 am |
i dont know anything about CL’s future plans. it was just a comment regarding the current filter and how it interacts with “the secret.”
a lot of times people find something that works and they get all excited. then it stops working at some point. so i am trying to call out those people who thought they had “the secret” only to find it doesnt work anymore.
but apparently there is no one posting here who fits that model.
November 10, 2007 at 2:24 pm |
Is it just me, or CraigsList changed the filter?!
I agree with Tj, who said on October 31: “It’s not necessarily the filters at this point, it’s the flagging. THAT is probably the most frustrating part.”
In August-October people couldn’t get their ads to show up, but now they show up just fine and … get staff deleted very fast.
Any ideas?
November 17, 2007 at 1:31 am |
i post with pictures and not with accounts
once i published the post and see the picture no showing , then you know the posting will be a no show
the no show problem has become common these couple of months
flagging is gay..no show is also gay
i rather pay them to have the listing on there since i would only post 1 per week if not the flagging
